Step-by-Step Lava Epoxy Tutorial

Mix your chosen pigment powders with Countertop Epoxy. We used Dark Red Metallic, Yellow Pearl Metallic, Gold Metallic, Copper Metallic and Black Liquid Dye.

Pour the first layer of Yellow Pearl pigmented epoxy resin onto your surface.

Distribute the epoxy resin as desired, across the surface.

Pour the second layer of pigmented epoxy resin (Dark Red Metallic) onto the surface. Keeping in mind how you want the final design to look.

Distribute the second layer of epoxy as desired.
Begin blending the two colours together.

Sparingly add the third layer of pigmented epoxy resin (Gold Metallic) and blend together.

Spray the epoxy resin surface with Isopropyl Alcohol. This helps get rid of any trapped air bubbles.

Begin adding the Black Liquid Dye to the epoxy resin.

Add more black epoxy resin.
Here is a closeup of how all the epoxy resin looks blended together.

Add some Copper Metallic pigmented epoxy resin.

Wait for the epoxy to set. This can take up to 24 hours. After, sand down the surface with coarse paper.
Clean the surface with Isopropyl Alcohol.

Apply a clear coat of Countertop Epoxy.

Spread the clear coat evenly over the surface.
Stipple with a laminating brush to reduce the trapped air bubbles.

Spray with Isopropyl Alcohol to help get rid of the remaining air bubbles.
